In the heart of the Smoky Mountains you will find a unique group of dogs. A group of rescues that have been trained to educate and entertain. The Comedy Barn Canines appear year round at the Comedy Barn Theater. They are here 6 nights a week (nearly 500 shows a year!) and aim to please.
Also, Miss Ellie and The Comedy Barn Canines travel to schools, nursing homes and also make appearances at many animal charity events in order to promote pet adoption and responsible pet ownership.

If Miss Ellie wins the $1 Million Grand Prize, all of her winnings will be donated to the Sevier County (TN) Humane Society. Over the years, Miss Ellie, and her employer, The Comedy Barn Theater, have raised and/or donated over $100,000 for the Sevier County Humane Society.
History: Miss Ellie was unloved, unwanted and living in a breeder's garage. She was rescued when she was seven years old by Dawn Goehring and brought to live with her and her 13 other rescue dogs. For over eight years, Dawn has performed on stage with all 14 rescue dogs in a comedy troupe called The Comedy Barn Canines. They perform nightly at The Comedy Barn Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN where they promote pet adoption and responsible pet ownership.
Everywhere she goes, Miss Ellie is told that she's so ugly, she's cute. This gave us the idea for the national contests. Miss Ellie's unique cuteness brings a lasting impression and hopefully they will remember not only the dog, but also her message. |
